Our ASA filament (1.75mm or 2.85mm) is a filament manufactured in Spain for 3D printers with FFF / FDM technology. ASA is acrylonitrile styrene acrylic, a thermoplastic developed as an alternative to ABS.
Our ASA, compared to ABS, improves weather resistance with high resistance to UV rays, maintaining all its mechanical properties. Spherical particles of lightly cross-linked acrylate rubber (instead of ABS butadiene rubber), function as an impact modifier, are chemically grafted with styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer chains, and embedded in a styrene-acrylonitrile matrix. Acrylate rubber differs from butadiene-based rubber by the absence of double bonds, which provides the material about ten times more weather resistance and UV resistance than ABS, higher long-term heat resistance and better strength chemistry. ASA is significantly more resistant to environmental stress cracking than ABS. It has a lower glass transition temperature, providing better low temperature properties to the material.
ASA is characterized by having a high resistance to outdoor weathering; preserving the gloss, color and mechanical properties. It has good chemical and heat resistance, high gloss, good antistatic properties, being resistant and rigid.
